Horseshoes of your own.

If you are a horse or pony owner and have a horseshoe that has been worn by your own equine I can paint it for you in colours of your choice and with a special message or name if you require.

Please contact me via the contact page, before sending your horseshoe to me so that we can discuss your design ideas. If you aren't sure what colours or designs you would like I can help. Take a look at the gallery page and see what colours look good together and what type of designs you prefer. I can make suggestions for designs and messages. Try to stick to 3 colours for the shoe; one colour for the shoe itself and two for the design.

Please allow 28 days for design, painting and postage of the shoe.

Once you have decided what colours, designs and any message you require please post your horseshoe to me.

Once it arrives I can either send you a Paypal money request or you can post me a cheque along with your horseshoe.

Painting your own horseshoe costs £22 plus £4.50 p+p (you are responsible for the initial postage cost of sending your shoe to me).

Dreamcatchers with or without a message are £30 plus £4.50 p+p (you are responsible for the initial cost of sending your shoe to me).

Please send a return address along with your horseshoe and either your daytime phone number or email address so I can contact you to clarify any design queries.

Please note I can only paint horseshoes that are clean. That means they must not be full of mud or rust, neither must they be full of stones. The best way to clean them before sending them to me is by immersing them in hot soapy water and scrubbing them clean. Once dry you may want to wire brush any remaining rust off. If the rust is thickened or the surface of the horseshoe is uneven it may not be possible to paint the shoe successfully.

Horseshoes that are sent to me in an unclean state and that require cleaning before I can paint them will incur a £5 cleaning fee.

Please do not allow your farrier to place the horseshoe into a hot furnace; this can fuse any small stones into nail holes etc making them more difficult to remove before painting.

Please remember that horseshoes vary in size and once worn by a horse will have their surface abraised. This means that the painting surface will not be as flat as a new unused shoe. This can sometimes affect the overall paint effect.

Nail holes may also be bigger on a used shoe and toe clips worn down or may even have been snapped off. The toe area of a used shoe will probably be worn down and therefore there is less area on which to paint, very important if you require a message in this space. Please think carefully before deciding on any message and consider if what you require will actually fit on the shoe you have. Long messages are not always easy to accomodate. Short is best, such as 'Happy Birthday Emma' or 'Best wishes, Mum and Dad'.

I will endeavour to do my best with a used shoe but owing to the differences between shoes reserve the right to alter designs to fit once I have seen the shoe.
